FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Estimation 180 has free math lessons and estimation tasks for grades 3-8 that help students develop their number sense one day at a time. You can use them as warm-ups, cool-downs, or even to launch a specific math concept. Students use clues, prior knowledge, or other critical information to make their estimates. They love seeing the reveals (a.k.a. “answers”), especially the video reveals.

Secondary math teacher, Andrew Stadel, started creating tasks for his middle school math students in 2012 and made it a goal to have an estimation task for each of the 180 days of school. The tasks are bundled in series of topics such as distance, time, spatial quantity, money, and more. Check out the Teacher Resources page to see how to get started.

Believe it or not, Estimation 180 tasks have not yet been tagged with specific math standards which allows teachers the flexibility to use them as they please.
